Dr. Daniel Stegman, MD
General Ophthalmology and Glaucoma Specialist

With over twenty years of experience in the field, Daniel Stegman, MD provides comprehensive Ophthalmologic care and the treatment of Glaucoma. He is widely known and respected for the high quality of care that he provides. He also practices in Clifton, New Jersey. He trained at both Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. At Mount Sinai he completed a clinical and research fellowship in Glaucoma, and remains on staff as a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Stegman's research work in Glaucoma has been presented at the prestigious Association for research and Vision in Ophthalmology. Dr. Stegman's is fluent in Spanish and English

Dr. Bradford Tannen, MD
Cornea, External Disease, Cataract Surgery and Refractive Surgery

Dr. Tannen earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey, where he was elected chief resident. Following residency, he completed a subspecialty fellowship training program in Cornea and External Disease at the internationally-renowned Wilmer Eye Institute, Johns Hopkins Hospital.

He currently serves as the Vice Chairman for Clinical Affairs and is the Medical Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the prestigious Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He has a vast experience with anterior segment surgery, including cataract surgery, corneal transplants, secondary intraocular lens procedures, and complex anterior segment reconstruction. He is one of the principal surgical instructors of resident physicians at Mount Sinai, where he has twice received the annual outstanding surgical teacher award, and was an invited instructor at the Harvard Medical School cataract surgery course.

His research interests include corneal biomechanics, imaging techniques for ocular inflammatory diseases, surgical techniques in corneal transplantation, and refractive outcomes after cataract surgery. He has published numerous articles in the ophthalmic literature, and presented widely at national and international meetings.

Dr. Tannen provides both comprehensive and subspeciality eye care, with a focus on anterior segment surgery, cataract surgery, including multifocal and toric intraocular lenses, corneal diseases including corneal transplantation and DSEK, andlaser refractive surgery including LASIK and PRK.

Dr. Adria Burrows, MD
Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Surgeon

Dr. Adria Burrows is a pediatric opthalmologist who completed her residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Manhattan and then went on to do a fellowship at Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital in Pediatric Ophthalmology. Dr. Burrows is experienced not only in general ophthalmology, but specializes in caring for eye problems that affect childen, likeeye turns, lazy eye, clogged tear ducts, styes, and retinal problems that can affect premature babies. She performs eye surgery on children and babies if it is needed.

Dr. Baljeet Purewal, MD
Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgeon

Dr. Baljeet K. Purewal, MD earned her medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center where she also completed her residency in ophthalmology. Following residency, she completed a subspecialty fellowship training program in Oculoplastic Surgery at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and in Cosmetic Oculofacial Surgery under the supervision of Stephen Bosniak, MD. She is board certified and an assistant professor of ophthalmology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where she supervises residents in the operating room and eye clinic.

Dr. Purewal's specialty interests include ptosis repair, blepharoplasty, eyelid pathology, and orbital and eyelid trauma. Additionally, she is well published in minimally invasive oculofacial rejuvenation and performs botox injections and fillers. Dr. Purewal is proficient in medical Spanish and familiar with Pumjabi.

Retina Specialist

Dr. Chechik is a board certified ophthalmologist, specializing in retina care and treatment. He earned his doctorate in 1997 at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Dr. Chechik gave back to his community through teaching at SUNY Downstate Health Science Center and Lebanon Hospital where he was an assistant professor. Dr. Chechik completed his residency in 2001 and continued on to complete a fellowship in surgical and medical disorders of the retina and vitreous. Dr. Brian Salzano, MD
General Ophthalmologist

Dr. Salzano earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ. While in medical school, he worked on several investigational projects related to trauma and orbital surgery. Dr. Salzano went on to complete a residency program in Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia Health System, where he served as Chief Resident. He has been in private practice in NJ for the past 5 years.

Dr. Jennifer Ariola, OD
Optometric Physician

Dr. Jennifer Ariola received her B.S. in Biological Sciences at Rutgers University Cook College in 2001. She later earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2005. She has interned in specialized practices such as the Cornea and Laser Eye Institute in Teaneck, NJ which is a unique national cornea and keratoconus subspecialty practice. She was also involved in the clinical research at that institution. She has also interned in practices specializing in pre and post op cataract surgery, diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases. Dr. Ariola has also participated in service trips to Ecuador with the Student Optometric Service to Humanity. She is proficient in medical spanish.

Dr. Evelyn Icasiano, MD
Cornea, External Disease, Cataract Surgery and Refractive Surgery

Dr. Evelyn Icasiano is a board-certified ophthalmologist providing a broad spectrum of comprehensive eye care with special interests in cataract surgery and laser vision correction refractive surgery. Dr. Icasiano was born and raised in New Jersey. She graduated from Rutgers University. At Rutgers, she was awarded the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award after completing a senior research thesis in the Biological Sciences and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She then went on to earn her medical degree at the Chicago Medical School. Upon graduation she completed an internship in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in New York followed by her residency training in Ophthalmology at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

Following her residency training, she continued her training with a subspecialty fellowship in Cornea, External Disease and Refractive Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Icasiano has been in private practice for 5 years. She is currently an adjunct attending physician at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Icasiano is proficient in Spanish.

Dr. Miesha Frempong, MD
Pediatric Ophthalmology.

Dr. Miesha Frempong completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Duke University in Durham North Carolina. Her area of expertise includes childhood and adult strabismus, childhood cataracts, glaucoma, ptosis and eyelid disorders, tearing disorders in children, optical correction of refractive error, retinoblastoma and retinopathy of prematurity.

A native New Yorker, she left the city after high school to pursue undergraduate, medicine and health policy studies at Yale University and Yale School of Medicine/Epidemiology and Public Health. Dr. Frempong completed her internship in internal medicine at Mount Sinai and an ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Interested in international health and health policy, she has traveled to and worked in numerous countries around the world. She enjoys learning new languages along with her many public service activities. She speaks Spanish, her mother’s (Panamanian) native tongue, and Twi, her father’s (Ghanaian) native tongue.
